In Memory of Samuel Donald Sellers…

Samuel Donald Sellers went home to his Heavenly home on September 10, 2021 at age 79.  Donald (his preferred name) was born to Effie (Sellers) Littlepage and Henry Mattison Sellers in Sebree, KY and was one of eleven children with two brothers and eight sisters.  He was raised in Evansville, IN until he attended the Indiana School for the Deaf and graduated in the class of 1962.

In lieu of flowers, online donations can be made to Donald’s daughter, Kim Goletz through her company (Refine YOU). All of the funds collected will then be donated to the Indiana School for the Deaf Alumni Association (ISDAA) to provide scholarships to seniors who are entering vocational programs after graduation as Donald did many years ago. Donald has been active with this organization and was always grateful to the Indiana School for the Deaf for providing him with the foundation and support that helped him succeed.

Donald began working as a draftsman and was a dedicated hard worker and provider for his family.  He spent most of his working life as an offset printer and was a long-time employee of Public Service Indiana for 20 years until retirement. He met his wife Kay E. (West) Sellers at The Deaf Club of downtown Indianapolis. He was smitten at first glance and pulled in a mutual friend to help him meet a certain blonde teacher working at a raffle ticket table. He wrote down his phone number on the purchased raffle tickets as instructed but then smoothly asked for her number in return, and the rest is history.  He remained a loving husband to Kay for 47 years.  Enjoying their time together, they took advantage of retirement by traveling the world and having unforgettable adventures.   They have two children, Kimberly (Sellers) Goletz and Marvella Sellers. He was always very proud of his “girls.”  He delighted in being “papa” to his dear grandchildren, Audrey and Andrew Goletz and having another guy in the family, his son in law, Michael Goletz.

In addition to traveling, he had the eye of an artist and enjoyed photography, oil painting, and gardening.  He was a long time Christian and could light up the room with his silliness and smile. His sweet demeanor and kindness is remembered by many. In addition to his immediate family, Donald is survived by his sisters, Wanda North of Port Charlotte, FL, Sue Reid of Newburgh, IN, and a very large extended family.

“But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint.” -Isaiah 40:31
